Ola Lee “Sonny” Stanley, age 85, of Mount Ida, AR, passed away Saturday July 2, 2016 at CHI St. Vincent in Hot Springs, AR. He was born August 17, 1930 to Ocus and Irene Fisher Stanley who precede him in death.

Sonny retired in 1976 from Container Corp. in Anderson, IN. He returned to Mount Ida to run the Stanley Rock Shop and dig crystals on Fisher Mountain with his father Ocus. Due to his daughter Jackie’s blindness, Sonny became very involved in the Lions Club. He served the club in various capacities. Sonny loved to golf with his son Gary. Sonny, along with his cousin G.W. Stanley established and maintained the “Dead Mule Deer Camp” for many deer seasons. Mr. Stanley was a member of the Lake Ouachita Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his Parents, Wife; Wanda, Brother; Tommy, and Sisters; Mary and Judy, and Granddaughter; Sarah Irene.

He is survived by his son and caretaker Gary Stanley (Trisha), Daughter; Jackie Warren, Sister; Becky and her sons Jerry McNabb (Tiffany) and Ryan McNabb, Several Grandchildren, Great- Grandchildren, and the Mother of his children Yvonne.

There will be a memorial service held Thursday, July 14^th at 6:00 p.m. at the Thornton Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Ida, AR with Roy Brooks officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Mount Ida Senior Center home delivered meals. Arrangements were made under the direction of Thornton Funeral Home of Mount Ida, AR.
